Alex was given a wildcard into the main draw of ATP Nottingham, a grass court tournament where he's had some of his finest victories in the past. Alex was drawn against the giant Belarussian Max Mirnyi in rd1 ranked 55 in the world. Alex looked on course for a shock upset when he took the 1st set 6-4 but Mirnyi battled back and took the 2nd set on a tiebreak before winning the decider 6-3.
