He tried his heart out. I feel sorry for the guy. His team mates weren't really helping him. Jamie (who also lost, don't forget) looked thoroughly peed off, while Andy wasn't even there. Give credit to Alex for what he tried to do.

Alex played well this weekend. He's an incredible player but everyone always knocks him down.
The crowd support died down after the first set and the 'team' slowly started to head off the court. With so many people expecting Alex to fail it's hardly suprising that he struggles with self belief and motivation.
We put far too much pressure on players in this country, we should have learnt from Henman, but we're doing it again with Andy and even Chris Eaton at Wimby this year. Give them a break! |

Couldn't agree more, especially as he was under so much pressure, it being the deciding match. As for the team, well, I can kind of understand Andy not being there - after all, he'd just played, he probably needed to freshen up or whatever. I can't really say anything about the others, but you'd have thought they'd be present at such an important match. Also, Alex got too much stick in the press this morning - okay, he lost the match, but every tennis player does that from time to time, for God's sake! I personally send him love & respect for going out there & trying hard. So it wasn't Rule Britannia this time, but tomorrow is another day. _________________ Catriona x |
