Great win over Delic by Al, 63 64, and a real chance of making the md now.

I think Al is finding the main tour very tough particularly with huge qualifying pressure with little prize money and no points. Hope the 50K challenger circuit may prove more fruitful. I find Al on a similar path to our top lady Brit Anne Keo..

QR1: A Bogdanovic bt A Delic 6-3, 6-4

British number 3, Alex Bogdanovic comfortably saw off American, sixth seed Amer Delic in the first round of qualifying at the Indian Wells Masters series event and will face Lukas Dlouhy for a place in the main draw proper. In what has become the norm for Alex he started the game all guns blazing, securing an early break and racing to a 4-1 lead. Delic then started to settle in to the match but it was too late to save the set. The 2nd set was a much tighter affair, although once again Alex got what proved to be a decisive early break to take a 2-1 lead. Delic wasn't to be denied easily though as started to hold his serve more easily whilst applying strong pressure on Alex's service games, however Alex held firm when it was needed serving for the match, saving a break point before wrapping it up on his 2nd match point.

Before this match Alex had a 2-1 losing record to Delic. He lost in the first round of US Open qualies in 2005 4-6,6-7(7), and in the 2006 Surbiton Challenger (6-7(2),6-3,4-6), but won their most recent encounter in Sydney qualies in January 6-2,4-6,7-5

Alex had spent the previous week in a extended training session with Andy Murray at Brad Gilbert's base in California, speaking to his webiste before Alex's match Murray had the follwoing to say: "I've been over at Brads now for around a week. It's been great training with bogo. Had a lot of fun. Been hitting the gym hard every day and I'm feeling much stronger...Bogo's been good the last few days. I think he's starting to understand what he needs to do to get to the top 100, which I think he should do, as he plays great. Just needs to get fitter and tougher, which he has been working on, and there is fire inside him that I hadn't seen before this week, which is good. Plus hes a great guy, very funny."

QR2: L Dlouhy bt A Bogdanovic 4-6, 6-2, 6-0

Alex failed to make the main draw of the Masters Series event in Indian Wells draw tonight, losing in the final qualifying round to Lucas Dlouhy 4-6 6-2 6-0.

The British No. 3 appeared to be in control of the match, breaking with Dlouhy serving at 4-5 in the first set, and leading 2-1 in the second set. Boggo then lost the next 11 games straight and lost the match.

The Brit had beaten Amer Delic in the first qualifying round and was within a set of making his first ever Masters Series main draw. However, he was unable to finish off the match and missed out on a big opportunity to join Andy Murray and Tim Henman in the main draw.
