Alex is in draw of 32. Got to play 6th seed,Bohli,144.Interesting to see how Boggo gets on as Evans and Goodall are there as well. They have seeds to play as well, 3 and 7. Go Boggo!!!

very tough draws here for all the Brits. Fleming came through qualies (only need to win one match as draw was very weak) and will probably get an easier match up than the other 3 who made it in directly.
Bohli won a hard ct challenger over the summer and reached the semi of another beating 3 top 100 players along the way and losing to a 4th so he can obviously play well on the surface and this will be a really tough match for alex.
he's also in the dubs and has a bye through the 1st rd. |

Goodall got thrashed and Evans was well beaten too.. doubt they'll get the same negative press as Alex tho... wonder how he copes sometimes, since most of the world seems to have an agenda against him.
Anyway, as we draw towards the end of the season, i think Alex will be realising that the next year will be crucial for him. I honestly believe it's make or break time for him now, and if he works hard on his mental and physical toughness over the off-season he can come back next year and break into the top 100. At the end of the day it's up to Boggo himself, nobody else can put the work in, i hope he stays focussed and committed as always =] _________________ Up The Bogmeister |

He gets so much more negative press because on the undoubted talent that he posseses over the other british players (except Murray)
Maybe he hasnt got the ability to become a top 20 player but you can clearly see (at times) that he should be comfortably in the top 100! I think he thinks to much on court and concentrates on the negativity of the press etc! He needs to just get his head down for the next year and let his tennis do the talking! If he finally reached his potential and made it to say 70 odd in the world then the press would lay off him because that would be about his level. If he then crashed out of Wimbledon in the 1st round again, the negative press wouldnt be so bad because his ranking would prove he is playing well! Only when this happens will the press lay off the guy so its down to boggo to end the negativity and produce the goods on a regular basis and see through matches he in winning! How many times does he seem to have won the 1st set and be doing well early in the 2nd before just throwing it all away! |

i agree Oggy Boggo clearly hasn't reached the level we (and he himself) would all hope him to achieve, but i don't think the press constantly having a go at him helps, especially not when he loses a match he was pretty always going to lose anyway.
However should he make WR 70 etc i still cant see the press laying off, that's just not the way they work. Did you see the grilling Keothavong got recently! She had a fantastic year, but a 1st rd Wimby loss and that all goes out the window and the Press conference left her in tears!!
alternately look at Chris Eaton basically do nothing all of your caeer string a couple of matches together in Wimby Qualies get a gift of a draw vs a clay court clown, get the win and become an over night national hero! _________________ Take what I say with a pinch of salt - I may be a bit biased! |

yep, Alex is feeling a bit better now, but he is going to take s break from training for a few more days to make sure. he worked pretty hard in the week after the USOQ loss and b4 St Remy, so maybe he overdid it slightly.
