! RG QUALI'S !Boggo is through to the 2nd Round of Qualifying for the French Open
The good news is that he came back from a set down, showing a bit of grit and determination
It would be a huge achievement to make it into the main draw on clay, so lets hope he can pull some surprises

yes it was a good fight back from alex, even if he did wobble a bit in the 2nd set.
that's now the 5th successive year alex has won his opening match here, but in all previous occasions he has lost in rd 2. would be nice if he can go one further.
making the md though will be very tough as the 3rd seed Marcos Daniel, from Brazil will probably be waiting in the final rd.

Disappointed but not all together surprised to see Alex knocked out in the 2nd round.
Still, getting a set on the board against a seeded player is promising, and with this being Alex's least favourite surface, i'm sure he can make the main draw in the rest of the slams this year

Yes it was a shame Alex couldn't see the match out but he gave everything he had.
I spoke with him briefly afterwards and he said Devvarman just didn't stop running chased everything down and used plenty of moonballs so Alex was forced to really start hitting as hard as he could, going for the shots. but overall he was pleased with his level of performance in the match.
on a side note sorry the main site hasn't been updated for a while. i have been crazy busy at work recently (which pays unlike the site ) hopefully i should get time to do some more soon.

Alex pushed the hardest I have seen him do at Roland Garros the last four years and this level of commitment is definitely the only way he can achieve anything more. He got more out of himself than I expected to get rid of Deheart, but then again he only dug himself out of the holes he himself created by losing his serve the way he did.
He really let go of it his commitment in the last game or two against devvy when I think he dumped another attempt at a drop shot into the net too casually, probably dispirited already. But why falter then when there are probably only two more games to go?- The oldest problems are the hardest to fix. Being truly driven even 95% of the time wasn't enough.

Hi Lynxy
Thanks for your insight, shame Alex seemed to capitulate right at the end. i guess he might have just hit a 'wall'. judging by Somdev's next rd result (a 60 61 loss, even though Daniel played well vs rafa subsequently) it seemed the match took everything out of both of them.
i think he will feel overall he played pretty well on the clay (by his expectations) so hopefully can have a positive outlook going into the grass.
