Aachen challenger round 2: Bogdanovic v PetzschnerAlex will face German qualifier Phillipp Petzschner in round 2 of the Aachen challenger on Wednesday.
Petzschner won 2 matches in qualifying [including a straight sets win over Ukraine youngster Sergei Bubka in rd2] but then benefitted from a final round walkover when he'd been due to face Tobias Kamke who had just knocked out the top seed.
In rd1, Petzschner caused a big upset, knocking out world no 120 Wesley Moode 6-4, 6-4. Alex will no doubt be pleased about this having lost to Moodie twice before [both times on grass].
Petzschner is ranked 416 with a career best of 248 reached in 2003. He's made big strides in doubles this year, reaching the top 100 and is currently ranked 63. His year has been scuppered by injury [he's had to take 5 months off in total] but has still made 3 futures finals and a semi. Before this tournament, his last match had been in ATP Stockholm when he lost to Alan Mackin in straight sets in the first qualifying round.
Feel free to post your predictions on the match in this thread.
I will provide live score updates here and game comments for the match

alex in 3Yeah, well just like Tim before him, Alex seems to like making things hard for himself so I'm guessing this will go all the way. final set tie break I'm saying.
ps nice site - worthy of the top 100 player I'm sure alex will become!
