Orleans 75K ChallengerRd1: A Bogdanovic bt P Wessels [Ned] 6-3, 6-0
Report: Alex secured a highly impressive 6-3, 6-0 victory over Peter Wessels today in rd1 of the Orleans Challenger. He was straight into his stride breaking Wessels early on and then again at 5-3 to take the 1st set. Wessels was being made to pay for not making enough 1st serves and Alex broke again in game 2 of the 2nd set. The Dutchman was given a warning for racket abuse at 3-0 down in the 2nd set and from then on he crumpled with a flow of unforced errors as he adopted a "do or die" approach, attempting to hit winners off every shot and Alex wrapped up victory in less than an hour. The Bogdanovic backhand was particularly fluent in the match and he showed no sign of the leg injury which has afflicted him over the past month.
In rd2 Alex plays Italian Andreas Stoppini ranked 248 who beat Jean Lisnard 6-4, 6-4 in rd1. Stoppini hit the headlines briefly this summer with a straight sets win over Andre Agassi in ATP Washington when he reached rd3 after qualifying. The hard-hitting Italian will test Alex, having reached a challenger final on hard courts in the States this year and he's also reached two futures finals indoors. Bogdanovic v Stoppini is 4th on centre court on Tuesday

Rd2: A Stoppini [It] bt A Bogdanovic 6-3, 6-4
Report: Alex went out of the Orleans Challenger with a 6-3, 6-4 rd2 defeat to Italian Andrea Stoppini. It was a disappointing loss after Alex's fine performance against Peter Wessels the day before, but Stoppini presented an entirely different challenge with his hard-hitting baseline game, going for big winners off both flanks and regularly peppering the lines.
Alex was unable to assert his authority from the baseline and once Stoppini started to read the Bogdanovic serve, Alex was in trouble. However, despite this defeat, it's been a fairly good week for Alex, getting back to his best form after the groin injury which he sustained in Davis Cup action in July. The injury is still sore but it's beginning to heal. Alex's next tournament will be ATP Mumbai which he will attempt to qualify for, qualifying begins on Saturday 23rd September. Alex has withdrawn from the Szczecin 125K challenger this week in order to prepare for Mumbai.
