Heilbronn challengerRd1: A Bogdanovic bt D Istomin 6-4, 6-2
Alex opened his Heilbronn campaign in convincing fashion, reaching the 2nd round with a comfortable straight sets win over Uzbek Dennis Istomin. Istomin is ranked around 80 places lower than Alex and Alex was always in control, breaking Istomin early in the first set and then in the first game of the 2nd. Another break in the 5th game meant that Alex led 6-4, 4-1 and effectively ended Istomin's resistance. Speaking afterwards Alex said "It was a good win for me, Istomin's a good solid all-round player. I played well throughout the match."

Rd2: Bogdanovic v Bozoljac preview:
Alex faces in-form Serbian Ilia Bozoljac for a place in the Heilbronn quarters. 20 year old Bozoljac is ranked 126 and knocked out 3rd seed Bjorn Phau in round 1, 7-6, 6-3. He’s started 2007 in fine style, qualifying for the Australian Open and beating Marin Cilic in straight sets before losing to Tommy Haas in rd2. Bozoljac has had his best results on clay and slow hard courts (in 2006 he made 2 challenger finals and 2 semis aswell as qualifying for the French Open where he reached rd2 before losing to Robredo). However, his big hitting game is effective on all surfaces. His main weapon is a massive first serve, he’s regularly on the top 10 serve speed leaderboard at slams and during the Great Britain-Serbia and Montenegro Davis Cup tie last year he clocked some serves close to 150 mph !
