Wimbledon 2007Alex plays Chris Guccione from Australia, and the winner may play 6th seed Davydenko.Once again aces is a big problem.Alex has 32,Chris 271.Probably will be a tough one! Alex teams up with Jamie Baker in doubles and play 16th seed Polish team of Fyrstenberg/Kubot which will be tough.

Jono, you have to look at more than just the numbers, but also the effective percetnages, the atp stats dount count challenger matches just atp, where gucci has played a lot more.
of course gucci still is well on top in serve with avergaing 1 ace a game, where alex is getting an ace every other game.
but look at return stats alex has played 60 return games and had 31 bp's taking 30% winning 17% of return games. Gucci has played 221 return games but only 60 bp's and taken 25% wining only 7%.
of course a big problem will be how alex copes with the occasional especialy if Gucci's serve is on it will be tough. Alex will have to try and keep the rallies going, keep the ball deep and make gucci stay at the back. also must remeber that its 5 sets so even if he drops an early set its not over. lol and if he does get a break keep totally focused and not drop it immeaditly.

I did kind of guess that aces were ATP but I think it gives a good account of what is to be expected if Al gets top 100 status.Very very close at 108.Greg R thought that Al played a good game, what was your view as I didn't see it.Did Al miss Peter? And who has Al got as mentor now?

i persoanly thought Al played very well. His serving was impressvie, and he seems to be imoprovng on that front. He also played much more relaxed than i had expected, i had feared he would be quite nervous and get tight out there. He played 1 bad service game in the 2nd set which handed it to Gucci and in the 3rd set Gucci came up with 2 unbelivable return winners at 30-30 to break.
Unfortunalty for Alex Gucci was on fire today and didnt put a foot wrong. he was reguarly serving 130mph+ on 1sts and 115mph+ on 2nds! at one point he saved a bp with a 138 mph down the T! There really wasnt much Al could do. Gucci also volleyed extremely well, especialy on balls that were low at his feet, which is suprising for someone 6'7 tall, and also showed excellent touch at the net.
Alex wasnt too down after the match as i think he realises he played well, he isnt too happy with the lundgern situation as he gets on really well with him, but hopefully peter will be back in the fold soon.
Alex will be goign over for a run of tournmanets in the states soon, i think a coach may be going with him, but AM and BG should also be at some of the atp events which could help alex.

Good win for Alex with Mel South.3 Doubles events played and initially rose to 634,then 536, now 542. I don't think that Al should play men's doubles at Wimbledon because that is best of 5, and Al should concentrate on last 64 singles and more gym work.Unfortunately Al lost in 4 sets with Jamie Baker to 16th Polish seeds. But mixed can be a laugh and is usually later on in the first week.Again, unlucky to play now Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond, the no.1 seeds!!And they are both no.1 in mens and ladies doubles.

What a fantastic win on centre beating the top seeds.Wow Now they play 13th seeds,R.Wassen (29) & Y.Jan Chan (10). I hope this will not hinder Al's travel plans to Newport,RI. But then of course,I want Al to keep winning
