However should he make WR 70 etc i still cant see the press laying off, that's just not the way they work. Did you see the grilling Keothavong got recently! She had a fantastic year, but a 1st rd Wimby loss and that all goes out the window and the Press conference left her in tears!!
alternately look at Chris Eaton basically do nothing all of your caeer string a couple of matches together in Wimby Qualies get a gift of a draw vs a clay court clown, get the win and become an over night national hero! |
I agree with you there Jac. Out of all of the Brits who crashed out at Wimbledon in the 1st round, Boggo got the most negative press because of the number of wildcards he has had and never got past the 1st round. He was playing Berdych who is around 20th in the world. No brit except Murray would of beaten him! Many of the other Brits faced players who Boggo would of had a mcuh better chance against! He has face Federer and Nadal in the 1st round in the past! Even Murray wouldnt of won them!!!! I agree! The press seem to base everything on Wimbledon and dont look at the challanger events very often etc! Its a shame that Boggo gets the criticism but I do think that if he was 70+ in the world then there would be less negativity! Especially with the situation he is in now! To come back and finally do well would be better than a youngster coming through and going straight to 70th etc!
