Sad Alex loses in 1st qualifying round.Very sad.Seeded 11,lost 7-5 6-2 to Stoppini. Stoppini is Italian and ranked 348. Alex is 123. Hopefully a return to form like Queen's is somewhere in the bag, but Al needs to draw it very soon.

Is Boggo playing well,or is his back injury troubling him.Can he achieve some results now and up to the US Open, season starting to run out,has to make a late charge for top 100 status. Top 50 is out of the question I'm afraid, for the time being anyway.

I very much think that Boggo will have to play US qualifying. He is at 126 down 3, and I guess the cut off period is soonish and probably around 108.He is playing Bronz this week, as no.8 seed,a 50K challenger, max points win is 55.Al is on 338 and the no.100 player is on 421. A lot of catching up to do.Oct and Nov,he will lose big points,Boggo's last big success was on April 9th and 16th this year.

Alex is due to play bronx today, vs a WC.

Unfortunately his back is still not 100%, it is gradualy getting better though.

i am not too worried today about todays result, of course would be nice if he can win. i just hope he is alright for the USOQ.

on the subject of the USO it has been almost certain alex would play the qualeis fior quite a while.

He really needed to get a win at wimby and defend his newport points to make the MD. as he did neither he dropped down the rankings just at the wrong time, menaing he was about 20th out on the list of alternates.

he should still be seeded for the qualies which could hep.

Sad Lost 3-6,7-5,6-1. I hope someone can install some confidence,I am very concerned.Another zero point. Not sure what to suggest, maybe some more challengers, to try and secure some much needed points, more medical help for back at Roehampton, more technical advice from Brad Gilbert. All LTA coaches are available 24/7.What do u think Jac??

Yes these forums arn't very busy, Alex's profile isnt very high though so its not suprising.

There are some good forums out there for british tennis disucsison,
there is a good one you can find if you google 'andy murray message board' where there is good discussion on Alex and all brit players.

Back to the current performance, I am not too down heartned by this most recent loss, whilst Alex's back is still not right he is not going to be winning, the fact that he came close, (63 55 at one point) shows he must be getting better, Lipsky whilst not great at singles would still be a competent player as he is good in doubles.

I wouldnt hold too much hope of him making it through the qualifers for the USO, but i believe his level of tennis has risen recently and hopefully he will get a chance to show this in the indoor season later this year.
